Spiced Millet Popcorn Snack
Ingredients
• Whole millet grains (foxtail / little millet / jowar) – ½ cup
• Ghee / coconut oil – 1 tbsp
• Curry leaves – 8–10
• Dry red chili – 1 (broken)
• Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
• Red chili powder – ½ tsp (adjust to taste)
• Black pepper powder – ¼ tsp
• Salt – to taste
• Roasted peanuts or cashews – 2 tbsp (optional, for crunch)
Method
Step 1: Pop the Millet
1. Heat a heavy-bottomed pan on medium-high heat.
2. Add a few millet grains first to test – if they pop, the pan is ready.
3. Add the rest of the millet in batches, cover with a lid, and let it pop (similar to
popcorn).
4. Shake the pan occasionally to prevent burning. Once popping slows, remove and set
aside.
Step 2: Make the Spice Tadka
1. In another small pan, heat ghee or coconut oil.
2. Add curry leaves and dry red chili, let them crackle.
3. Lower the flame and add turmeric, chili powder, pepper, and salt. Mix well.
Step 3: Toss Together
1. Pour the spiced tadka over the popped millet.
2. Add roasted peanuts or cashews (if using).
3. Mix thoroughly so the spices coat evenly.
Step 4: Serve
• Serve immediately as a warm snack.
• Can also be cooled and stored in an airtight jar for 2–3 days.
Serving Suggestions

Agrinests Tip for Customers

• This is a great travel snack since it stays crunchy for a couple of days.
